Job description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Technical Grant Writer to support grant writing efforts in Western Canada for our clients, primarily consisting of rural and remote Indigenous communities. The applicant will be responsible for researching, writing, and managing grant applications and the grant process. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
Duties:
- Research and stay current on Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and Philanthropic funding programs and their relevant details (eligibility criteria, application deadline, available funding, terms and conditions, etc.)
- Review deep energy retrofit plans created by our team regarding commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-unit residential buildings owned by our clients
- Attend events, meetings, webinars to learn more about programs and identify opportunities as they emerge
- Prioritize responsibilities to be among the ‘first applicants’ whenever new funding rounds are announced
- Update our internal database on a regular basis to stay current on changes and announcements in order to seize opportunities as they emerge
- Review and compare funding programs to our database for appropriate “Program-Project” compatibility
- Work independently and collaborate with our cross-functional teams and with our clients to write/co-write, review, edit, finalize, obtain approval and submit funding applications for clients
- Create, organize, and maintain thoughtful templates to save time, improve quality, and streamline your activities
- Communicate with funding agencies to ask questions and ensure the highest likelihood of success
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience in writing and successfully obtaining grants for worthy projects
- Ability to research programs and to review project plans and translate that information into strong written copy for grant proposals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Grant Writing, Energy Conservation, Renewable Energy, Engineering, Construction Management, EPC, Procurement, or Project Management-related experience including degrees, diplomas, certificates, and/or real world experience in these or similar areas considered an asset
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Google docs, sheets, and slides
